Invite key Korean writers each year since 2007 for Reading Night Event to help KAIST students develop basic qualities as global leaders in the 21st century. The event consists of the writers’ speech and discussion participated by the authors and students regarding reading and writing.
KAIST has held a writing competition titled “I Love KAIST, KAIST Loves Me” annually since 2012 to raise a sense of community among students and enhance interest in writing. All KAIST undergraduate students can participate in the competition that presents new themes each year. In-depth review process will select recipients of Grand Prize, Excellence Prize, and Participation Prize along with scholarships and mementos. The selected pieces of writing are edited by student editors and published as a book each year by Sallim Books.
Renowned figures in humanities, social sciences and arts are invited to give featured lectures touching a range of topics to help students access broad and in-depth liberal arts and knowledge to develop into creative global leaders with interdisciplinary experience.
An intensive short-term Korean language program, including cultural activities, has been offered to international students at KAIST since 2019.
EFL Program holds Academic English Camp every winter for incoming freshmen who need to improve their English skills to be better prepared for the regular classroom taught in English at KAIST.
EFL Program provides English Clinic, where EFL professors and student tutors help students improve their English writing and speaking skills through one-to-one consulting.
Launched in March 1998, this event has been participated voluntarily by faculty, students and staff in an effort to develop patience and a sense of challenge, embrace sports as a part of their life, and encourage the culture of care and harmony among KAIST members. KAIST Run is held each three times during the first half-year (March to May) and the second half-year (September to November). The participants start off from the northern stadium and run for 5 kilometers around the outer road within the campus to return to the starting point. Each run has invited around 70 participants, and over 10,000 KAIST members have participated in the running event over the past 22 years.
