The School of Humanities and Social Sciences at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the assistant/associate professor level in the area of English Language Education.
We are particularly interested in scholars of outstanding promise in research on teaching English as a second/foreign language (TESOL) and/or applied linguistics and preferably with experience in coordinating or managing an EFL/ESL program. We are also seeking a scholar and educator with a sound vision for English language education for science and engineering students in an English-medium instruction (EMI) setting. The successful candidate will have a doctorate in a relevant discipline and will also be able to provide evidence of outstanding research and excellence in teaching.
KAIST is an internationally-renowned, government-funded research university based in South Korea, which aims to become a global leader in the key areas of research for the 21st century. As a rapidly expanding global institution, KAIST mandates English as the main language of instruction. KAIST is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
Salaries and benefits are comparable to those at major American universities, and negotiable depending on qualifications. In addition, on-or off-campus housing will be provided as well as financial subsidy for settlement expenses and start-up funding for research. The position will begin in March 2018.
Interested candidates should send a cover letter and curriculum vitae (and only a letter, CV and agreement form at this time) to Search Chair, Professor Michael Pak, at the e-mail address by November 24, 2017. Those who successfully pass the initial screening will be invited to submit additional materials.
